KOTA SAMARAHAN, May 2: A 31-year-old man was found dead in a rented room on the third floor of a building near Desa Ilmu here Thursday evening (May 1).
In a TVS news report, Kota Samarahan District Police chief Superintendent Damataries Lautin said the deceased, who worked at a nearby supermarket, had been living alone in Room 16 for the past few months.
“A man contacted the police to report that the tenant of one of the rooms had not been responding for several days,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Upon arriving at the scene around 5.50pm, officers from the District Criminal Investigation Division (CID), together with an investigating officer, found the room in a disorganised state.
However, there were no signs of forced entry or physical injuries on the victim’s body.
“Personal items and the victim’s wallet were also found inside the room,” he added.
A medical assistant from Sarawak Heart Centre confirmed that the man had died before the arrival of the investigation team.
Police have classified the case as a sudden death (SDR) and have so far ruled out any criminal elements.
“The public is advised not to speculate about the incident while awaiting the full results of the post-mortem,” urged Damataries. — DayakDaily
