KUCHING, July 9: The RM142 million Bebuling Agropark project in Spaoh, Betong is slated to kick off by the end of July.
In a TVS news report, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas confirmed that the contractor for the 300-hectare project has been officially appointed.
“The Agropark project in Bebuling will begin soon, or at the latest by the end of July. The contractor has already been selected,” he said after chairing the Technical Coordination Meeting for the Bebuling Agropark Development held at the Deputy Premier’s Office on Tuesday (July 8)
Uggah, who is also the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) chairman, urged all stakeholders, particularly landowners in the affected areas, to fully cooperate with the appointed contractor to ensure smooth implementation.
“I hope the public, especially landowners in the project area, will give their full support to enable the project to proceed as planned for the benefit of all,” he said.
Bebuling is one of two locations identified by the Sarawak government for the development of agroparks, the other being Lubok Tamang.
The Bebuling Agropark is strategically located near the RM296 million Short Take-Off and Landing Airport (STOLport), which is expected to begin operations in November 2025.
Also present during the meeting were Betong member of Parliament Dato Dr Richard Rapu Begri, Betong Division Resident Richard Michael Abunawas, and BDDA special administrative officer Abang Mohamed Abang Turkey. — DayakDaily
