MIRI, Oct 9: Approximately 300 guests attended the Sarawak Banquet in conjunction with the 86th birthday celebration of Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at Pullman Miri Hotel here last night.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the event was graced by Taib and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk AmarJuma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang were also present.
The guests were treated to a variety of interesting performances from local artists and National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) Sarawak accompanied by instrumental performances from the Kombo D’Aspirasi RTM musical group.
Other notable guests included Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan Hong Nam; and Minister-in-charge of the Celebration Dato Sri Lee Kim Sim. — DayakDaily
