KUCHING, Oct 18: A fire occurred at a workshop in Kampung Batu Kitang, along Jalan Kuching-Bau today, with the emergency call reported at 3.52pm.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), upon arrival, fire crews from Batu Lintang and Tabuan Jaya Fire Stations found that the blaze had fully engulfed three buses, while one car and one motorcycle sustained partial damage.
The fire was reported to have started in a bus storage area, prompting immediate action from the firefighters.
Bomba reported that they deployed a fire rescue truck (FRT) and an emergency medical response service (EMRS) to the scene.
The firefighters utilised one hose line and two nozzles, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant, as well as an initial fire suppression line.
Despite the initial attempts to extinguish the flames using two fire extinguishers by workshop workers, the fire spread rapidly, making it impossible to contain without professional intervention.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses remain under investigation. The operation concluded at 5.13pm. — DayakDaily
