3.9-metre crocodile sighted in Sarikei, shot dead by locals

SARIKEI, Sept 18: Residents of Jalan Sungai Baji were alarmed by the sighting of a 3.9-metre-long crocodile around 4.40pm yesterday (Sept 17).

According to a news report by TVS, Sarikei District Civil Defense Force (APM) personnel were dispatched to the scene upon receiving an emergency call.

A local resident reported seeing the crocodile in the river, where they often fished.

Fearing for their safety, they contacted the Sarikei District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) for assistance.

APM officer Lt (PA) Sahrol Azizi Zaidi said when the rescue team arrived, they discovered that the crocodile had already been killed by villagers.

The crocodile’s carcass was then taken to APM’s Control Centre for further investigation. — DayakDaily
