28yo BID from Sibu among 13 new Covid fatalities reported in Sarawak

KUCHING, Oct 18: A 28-year-old woman from Sibu who was brought in dead (BID) was among 13 fatalities due to Covid-19 reported in Sarawak today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the 13 deaths which were recorded between Oct 13 and Oct 16, brings the State’s death toll to 1,110.

According to SDMC, on Oct 13, Sibu Hospital reported two deaths. The first involved the 28-year-old woman who was diagnosed with cancer and was BID, while the second involved a 72-year-old man who had high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia and obesity.


On Oct 14, Sibu Hospital recorded six more deaths involving three men aged 66, 67, and 79 respectively. The remaining three were women aged aged 48 and 85 with comorbitities, and a 76-year old woman who need assistance in daily life.

Two fatalities were also reported in Sibu and Miri Hospitals on Oct 15, involving a 68-year-old woman from Sibu, and a 74-year-old man from Limbang. Both deceased had comorbiditites.

Today (Oct 16), three deaths were reported in Miri and Kuching.

Two cases were reported in Miri involving a 47-year-old man with comorbidities, and a 58-year-old man (no known history of illness), while one death case in Kuching involving a 74-year-old women diagnosed with cancer. — DayakDaily
