KUCHING, Jan 13: A 25-year-old man is feared to have drowned while swimming near Rumah Manggin Ng Buan in Ngemah, Kanowit, today.
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a call on the incident at 1.50pm and deployed firefighters from the Kanowit station.
“The victim, identified as Mohamad Hamizan Reduan, was believed to have drowned while on his way back to his rented house for lunch.
“The house was located across the river, and he decided to get there by swimming.
“As the victim was swimming across the river, he suddenly disappeared while in the middle of the river. The river level at the time of the incident was high,” said the report.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation has since been mounted to locate the victim. — DayakDaily
