KUCHING, June 15: In three months’ time, 67 households from Rumah Aji Ugil, Rumah Protasi Ayor and Rumah Mero in Hulu Kapit will finally get to enjoy 24-hour electricity supply with the completion of a solar hybrid system installed by the Ministry of Utilities at Sg Pila in Ng Merit, Kapit.
The 67 households comprise 27 families from Rumah Aji, 17 from Rumah Protasi Ayor and 23 from Rumah Mero.
Assistant Minister of Water Supplies Datuk Liwan Lagang said the three longhouses would also be supplied with water soon under the Sarawak Alternative Water Supplies (Sawas) initiative.
“The solar hybrid is expected to be completed in three months’ time. The water supply, under Sawas, will start once the consultants completed their design,” Liwan told DayakDaily today.
He was accompanied to the longhouses by Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Kapit district officer Elvis Didit, Welfare Department (Kapit) officer Dariel Teo and Tuai Rumah Protasi Ayor.
Meanwhile, Belaga assemblyman Liwan and Ugak also visited SK Ng Ibun in Sg Pila that was affected by the flood on May 30 and June 3. Liwan gave RM10,000 from his Belaga Service Centre to the school, while Ugak chipped in RM5,000 from his grant. — DayakDaily
