KUCHING, Feb 22: A 23-year-old woman was fined RM900 or, in default, one month’s imprisonment for causing harm to another woman over suspicions that the victim was having an affair with the accused’s husband.
The sentencing took place following Fiffy Fearalissa Mohamad Shukri’s guilty plea to the charge, which was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
Section 323 of the Penal Code stipulates a penalty of imprisonment for up to one year, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The assault occurred on Feb 17, 2024, around 10.30pm at Chonglin Plaza, Green Road.
The victim, a 24-year-old woman, sustained injuries to her brow area, left hand, and left ear. Subsequently, the victim lodged a police report to pursue further action.
During police investigations, it was revealed that the accused had confronted the victim, accusing her of having an extramarital relationship with her husband. However, the victim vehemently denied these allegations.
Fiffy Fearalissa was unrepresented by legal counsel, while Insp Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang represented the prosecution. — DayakDaily
