23yo man reported missing after installing boat engine at Sg Lemana found drowned

LUBOK ANTU, June 3: A young man who fell into Sungai Lemana near Rumah Duan in Nanga Ngemah Ulu here while installing a boat engine near midnight last Saturday (June 1) was discovered drowned this morning during the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim is 23-year-old Desmond Lanchang Chan.

In a statement, Bomba mentioned that the public discovered the victim at 4am, approximately 2km away from the suspected fall site. The victim has now been handed over to the police for further action.

Bomba also stated that the SAR operation included firefighters from the Betong fire station, police, Lubok Antu’s Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), and longhouse residents.

The SAR operation ended at 10.35am today. — DayakDaily
