BAU, July 15: In the past week, as many as 22 positive Covid-19 cases were traced to five families in Kampung Jagoi Duyoh here, which has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) starting today.

Health officer from Bau District Health Office Dr Winnie Johnny disclosed that there had been 18 cases reported in the village since the beginning of this year until June.

“Contact tracing later identified five families and in the past seven days, with a cumulative number of 22 positive cases detected as of July 13,” she told the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) yesterday.

With the State Health Department having declared the new Duyoh Cluster yesterday, the first round of active case detection (ACD) operation was activated today to conduct swab tests on all the residents in the village.

Dr Winnie informed that this will be followed by a second ACD operation to be conducted on the 10th day which is on July 24.

Meanwhile, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik advised Kampung Jagoi Duyoh residents undergoing the two-week EMCO to not panic but continue to cooperate with the agencies involved so as to curb the further spread of Covid-19 infections.

“If family members from outside the EMCO area would like to send things including food, medications and others, they can leave them at the roadblock control post so that the enforcement officers can help to deliver them,” he said.
