212 public servants honoured with Loyal Service Medal in Sibu

SIBU, July 10: A total of 212 recipients were honoured with the Loyal Service Medal for the Sibu, Kapit and Mukah Zones in a ceremony that took place at a hotel here today, which was officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to a press release, the ceremony involved 20 federal and State government agencies and departments in Sarawak.

The recipients comprised various federal and State government agencies and departments in Sarawak, with the most coming from the Education Department with 75, followed by the Sibu Municipal Council with 37, the Health Department (24), the Land and Survey Department (13), and the Sibu Resident’s Office (11).

The Kapit Divisional Resident’s Office saw eight recipients, while five each from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Kapit District Council, and Sarawak Rivers Board were also honoured.

Additionally, the Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Agriculture, Social Welfare Department, and Sibu Rural District Council each had four recipients, followed by three from the Syariah Judiciary Department, two each from the Islamic Religious Department, State Courts, Malaysia Information Department, and State School Inspectorate, and one each from the Sarawak Forest Department and Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation. (STIDC).

All recipients were recognised for their outstanding service, having served in the public sector for between 20 and 40 years.

Among those honoured were Reddy Mohd Harun, Ringkai Sumok, and Sulan Sawing from the State Health Department, each of whom has served for 41 years.

Also receiving the medal were Raanah Lai and Wong Leong Choo from the State Education Department, who have each completed 40 years of service.

Also present were Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol; Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee; and Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee.

Meanwhile, according to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), earlier on, the Premier also performed Friday prayers with about 3,000 worshippers at Masjid An-Nur Sibu here today, where he was received by Dr Annuar and Masjid An-Nur Committee chairman Ustaz Ghaiazra Mohammad Ali.

After the prayers, Abang Johari spent some time mingling with and greeting worshippers before signing the mosque’s visitors’ book as a memento. — DayakDaily
