KUCHING, Jan 24: A total of 21 individuals were evacuated from flood-hit SK Ranggong and RH Belilie, Ulu Niah, 14 teachers stranded at the school due to floodwaters cutting off the main road.

“The teachers requested transportation assistance to take them out to the main road because the road has been flooded,” it said, noting that only high vehicles and four-by-four vehicles could go through the flooded road and reach the school.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Bomba also reported flooding at Rh Belilie longhouse yesterday.

“Upon the arrival at the location, the residents of Rh Belilie were said to be unwilling to evacuate and would move on their own if the situation worsened,” it said.

It advised them to use their own boats if the situation worsens in the area.

Only three residents wanted to be evacuated from the area and they have been relocated to the Rh Changgai longhouse.

Aside from that, the Sarawak Bomba reported that Bomba personnel at the location are still stranded on the road before the Rh Sube bridge due to rising water levels, making it impassable for vehicles.

The firefighters turned back to Rh Changgai and will move back once the water level recedes and is passable by vehicles. – DayakDaily
