20yo motorcyclist killed in pre-dawn crash in Miri

MIRI, April 14: A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a tragic accident along the Miri Bypass in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 13).

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 5am, when the victim, travelling from Vista Perdana towards Miri Airport, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the road.

In a tragic twist of events, a second motorcyclist—a 17-year-old local youth—who was riding behind him, was unable to avoid the fallen rider and struck him.

Miri district police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Miri Hospital.

The police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving resulting in death. — DayakDaily
