KUCHING, Oct 2: A man in his 20s was killed early this morning after the Honda RS-X motorcycle he was riding collided with a Proton Wira along Jalan Stutong.
According to TVS news, Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident happened at around 4.10am.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim, who was coming from the direction of the Stutong roundabout, is believed to have veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the oncoming car, which was heading straight towards the Tabuan Tranquility traffic lights.
“The victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Red Zone of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), while the driver of the car escaped unhurt,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to assist in the investigation by contacting Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Charlie Aloysius at 014-8682068 or 082-259900 (BSPTD Kuching), or by approaching the nearest police station.
Alexson also reminded all road users to remain vigilant and abide by traffic rules to safeguard the safety of every road user. — DayakDaily
