20 new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia: MoH

KUCHING, Aug 14: Malaysia recorded 20 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 13 were local transmissions and seven imported.

Ministry of Health (MOH) on its Facebook page said the additional 20 now brings the total infections to 9,149.

ā€œSix Malaysians and one foreigner contributed to the seven import cases. They have just returned from Lebanon (3), and one each from Indonesia, Yemen, Taiwan and France.


ā€œAs for the 13 local transmissions, they all originated from two active clusters in Tawar and Muda, from Kedah and Penang.

ā€œTawar cluster recorded 11 new cases. Muda recorded one while another case was due to severe acute respiratory illness,ā€ the statement said.

MOH also announced seven more patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals, bringing the rate of recovery to 8,828.

The number of active cases as of today stands at 196.

No fatality was reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) today, making the total number of cumulative fatalities remained at 125.

Four patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit with one needing ventilator support.ā€”DayakDaily
