2 nabbed for illegal online gambling in Marudi

This 58-year-old suspect was picked up in a coffeeshop in Marudi at about 9.20am today (Nov 12) on suspicion of indulging in illegal online gambling.

MARUDI, Nov 12: Two men were arrested here in the last four days on suspicion of indulging in illegal online gambling, as police pledged to continue with their effort to curb this social scourge in the district.

According to Marudi police chief DSP Gabriel Risut, a 66-year-old man was picked up on Friday (Nov 9) at about 1.45pm on suspicion of this crime. Seized from him were a mobile phone, two pieces of paper with four-digit numbers written on it, RM129 in cash and a pen.

At about 9.20am today, a team from Marudi CID nabbed a 58-year-old man in a coffeshop, and it resulted in the seizure of RM1,400 cash, three tablets, SIM cards and a pen.

Both suspects are currently being detained under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. — DayakDaily
