SIBU,July 20: Two people were killed when their van crashed into a tree and exploded in flames at Jalan Salim Stabau this morning.
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said in the 6am accident, the duo were believed to be travelling from Durin Bridge to town when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
“It then crashed into a tree after careening off the road and burst into flames,” he said.
Paramedics from Sibu Hospital pronounced them dead on the spot.
ACP Zulkipli said the identity of the two victims is still unknown.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Ordinance 1987. — DayakDaily
