2 fined for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons

KUCHING, April 30: Two men were today fined by the Magistrate’s Courts, one for RM1,000 and the other RM2,000, for voluntarily causing hurt to a man with dangerous weapons.

Mohd Affizul Jemali, 22, and Parizal Ismail, 22, were charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to Farizal Bohri with a helmet and a rotan at an unnumbered house in Kampung Bintawa Ulu on April 18 at about 10.30pm.

Mohd Affizul pleaded guilty before Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof and was subsequently fined RM1,000 in default five months’ imprisonment.

Parizal pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar and was fined RM2,000 in default four months’ jail.

Section 324 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 10 years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments, if convicted.

In Mohd Affizul’s case, the DPP was Muhammad Hafiz Musa and the prosecuting officer was Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang, while for Parizal’s case, the prosecuting officer was Nelson Ensit. Both accused were not represented. — DayakDaily
