KUCHING, May 19: Two people were killed while another was injured following an accident involving a lorry carrying fertiliser at the Pan Borneo Highway along Jalan Bintulu-Miri today.
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department, an emergency call was received at 10.04am, and firefighters from the Bintulu station were deployed.
Upon arrival, it was noted that the accident involved a lorry carrying fertiliser that had skidded off the road and crashed onto the roadside.
“Three victims were involved. Members of the public assisted one before Bomba arrived, while two were still trapped.
“The first victim was reported to be injured and was sent to the hospital via ambulance, while the two trapped victims were pronounced dead by medical officers at the scene,” said the report.
One of the deceased victims was identified as 31-year-old Christon Naim, while the identities of the other two remain unconfirmed.
Firefighters used rescue tools to extricate the deceased victims and handed them over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
