KUCHING, May 19: Sarawak’s business events industry is poised to make a strong return at IMEX Frankfurt 2025, taking place from May 20 to 22, solidifying its position as a top-tier, impact-driven business events destination.

According to a Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) press release, the theme ‘Impact’ continues to be the central focus of IMEX Frankfurt this year, highlighting the importance of uniting the global events community to address pressing economic, social, and environmental challenges.

“BESarawak is all geared up for this theme as the Sarawak Pavilion aligns perfectly with this mission, showcasing the industry’s commitment to driving social and economic impact through business events,” the press release stated.

One of the key highlights at the Sarawak Pavilion is the AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System. Developed in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), this pioneering tool enables event planners to measure and report the long-term impact of business events on communities, ensuring sustainable and meaningful benefits.

Another featured initiative is Legacy360, a platform dedicated to advancing business event legacies by bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and community representatives to explore strategies for economic, social, and environmental transformation.

In addition, the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards (BILA) will be introduced to recognise outstanding contributions to the business events sector, celebrating individuals and organisations that drive positive change in Sarawak’s communities through knowledge-sharing and economic development.

Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said IMEX Frankfurt serves as a cornerstone event for Sarawak to showcase its unique strengths as a business events destination.

“This year, we are doubling down on our commitment to legacy, sustainability, and innovation—values that align seamlessly with the global theme of ‘Impact’.

“Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) will take centre stage, demonstrating how business events can drive transformative change for our communities and economy,” he said.

BESarawak chief executive officer (CEO) Amelia Roziman added that the Sarawak Pavilion aims to inspire and attract international corporate meetings and incentives markets, while reinforcing Sarawak’s position as a leader in legacy-driven business events.

“IMEX Frankfurt is the perfect stage to amplify Sarawak’s voice and contributions to the global business events community as well as legacy impact,” she said.

IMEX Frankfurt 2025 will be held at Messe Frankfurt, one of Europe’s largest and most connected venues.

The event will bring together over 3,100 exhibitors from 150 countries and 4,200 global decision-makers.

Last year, the exhibition facilitated more than 63,000 meetings, reinforcing its status as a premier global event in the business events industry.

This year marks a defining moment for BESarawak as it continues to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in Sarawak’s rich cultural identity. — DayakDaily
