KUCHING, June 4: A 19-year-old teenager was killed after his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle at Jalan Tun Haji Abdul Rahman Yaakub, Petra Jaya here this early morning.
Acting Kuching district police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the road accident happened around 1.30am when both motorcycles were travelling from Datuk Menteri Abang Haji Mohammad Zin Bin Haji Salleh Roundabout towards Sesco Roundabout.
“The victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) following internal body injuries.
“The other motorcyclist had a broken shoulder and right leg and is still receiving further treatment at SGH,” he said in a statement today.
It was also revealed the deceased did not have a riding licence while the other motorcyclist’s riding licence had expired.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 of Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving and is punishable by five years’ imprisonment and a fine of not less than RM20,000. — DayakDaily
