KUCHING, Nov 11: Covid-19 vaccine booster shots will be made available at some 199 premises for eligible Sarawakians via walk-ins effective Nov 13.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the 199 listed premises included various Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs), health clinics and general practitioner (GP) clinics across 12 divisions namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang.
Since the rollout of Covid-19 vaccine booster doses on Oct 13, SDMC counted a total of 266,435 individuals who have received their third jabs as of Nov 10.
Covid-19 vaccine booster shots are given to primer vaccine dose recipients who reached optimal immune stimulation but with decreased immunity levels after some time, said the committee.
“Therefore, SDMC would like to remind that all Sinovac vaccine recipients can receive a booster dose three months after the date of Dose 2 while all Pfizer vaccine recipients can receive a booster dose six months after the date of Dose 2.
“Walk-ins at public PPVs are also allowed for eligible recipients. Those eligible are encouraged to take this opportunity without the need to make an appointment through MySejahtera,” it said in a statement today.
Those eligible for the booster shots include frontliners, citizens aged 60 years old and above, and those with comorbidities.
