KUCHING, April 6: An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident that occurred at Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa in Kampung Sindang, Kota Samarahan, on April 5.
According to the Kota Samarahan district police chief, Supt Damataries Lautin, the victim was identified as Mohamad Along Abdullah from Kampung Baru, Kota Samarahan.
In a statement, he said that a report was received at 9.35pm, and initial investigations revealed that the victim was heading from Kampung Baru to Desa Ilmu.
“The victim suddenly lost control of his vehicle and skidded, causing him to fall into the opposite lane,” he said.
He was then run over by a car driven by a 25-year-old man who was driving straight in the opposite direction.
The victim was confirmed to have died at the scene, and his remains have been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) forensics unit. Meanwhile, the car’s driver was not injured.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
