KUCHING, Aug 13: Eighteen teams from Penang, Kuantan, Selangor, Malacca, Johor, and Indonesia took part in the Yuanji Dance Mass Performance held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) square today.
In his speech when officiating at the event, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said for over 23 years, Yuanji Dance has been a symbol of unity, a testament to local community-collective strength and determination.
He also said that the dance is not only a visual spectacle but also a powerful testament to the pursuit of health and longevity through its graceful movements, inspired by the elements of nature.
“Let us celebrate not only the captivating performances but also the spirit of Yuanji Dance—a dance of life, wellness, and unity.
“May its graceful movements continue to inspire us, reminding us that through harmony and balance, we can lead healthier, more fulfilling lives,” he said.
Also present at the event were Yuanji Dance organising chairwoman Cr. Jong Jia Chee and Kuching Festival chairman Cr. Mok Chang Phing. — DayakDaily
