170 new Covid-19 cases, one fatality recorded — Health DG

KUCHING, April 7: Malaysia has recorded a total of 170 new Covid-19 positive cases today.

Ministry of Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of confirmed cases to 3,963.

“We’ve also one new death reported, bringing the total death toll to 63. The fatality rate is still less than two per cent out of the total number of positive cases.


“The latest death was a 71-year-old Malaysian man, with a history of high blood pressure and diabetes, who had recently attended a religious gathering in Sulawesi, Indonesia. He was admitted to the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital in Johor and passed away on April 6 at 11pm,” Dr Noor Hisham said at the ministry’s daily Covid-19 briefing in Putrajaya today.

He added that Malaysia also saw 80 patients discharged as at 12pm today, bring the total to 1,321 patients (33.3 percent) recovered from Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 92 patients are currently in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), with 50 of them requiring ventilators. — DayakDaily
