KUCHING, Aug 24: The Magistrates’ Court has ruled that a male student will be required to undergo a six-month security bond after pleading guilty to assaulting his fellow male schoolmate at a boarding secondary school.
Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan issued the sentence against the 15-year-old teenager who was charged under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
As part of the ruling, Magistrate Mason also ordered the teenager’s release on a non-deposit RM500 bond, with his father as the surety.
According to the allegations, the teenager committed the offense against the 15-year-old victim on Aug 18, at around 3.15pm in the school dormitory located in Matang.
The incident unfolded after a series of teasing and taunting using the victim’s father’s name, which eventually led to the physical altercation.
The details of the case revealed that the teenager repeatedly punched the victim’s head and face. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained bruises around the left eye and experienced head pain.
Following the incident, a police report was filed, leading to the arrest of the teenager.
The prosecution was led by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang, while the teenager chose not to be represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
