MIRI, Feb 13: The Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations (FCA) will enforce strict standard operating procedure (SOPs) during its dinner gathering scheduled for February 19 (Saturday) to ensure safety measures are in place to protect all attendees.

FCA president Datuk David Goh today, clarified that though the requirement for mandatory temperature checks and record books have been removed, the federation will still impose temperature checks at the event which will be held at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club’s Musical Corridor.

“We are also limiting the number of guests to 350 people, which is much less than half of the space capacity of the venue,” he said.

“Additionally, we also request all guests to conduct Covid-19 rapid antigen tests an hour before arriving at the event. They must show the result of the test to staff on duty, alongside body temperature checks and be wearing a face mask upon entering the event,” said Goh.

He stressed that although the National Recovery Plan (NRP) Council had announce that once the national borders reopen, and mandatory quarantine will no longer be required, it is the responsibility of everyone to keep alert and protect themselves and their loved ones.

“The pandemic had hit our economy hard, and has affected the lives of the people. Therefore, reopening of national borders cannot be delayed further. However, it is crucial for everyone to be responsible towards themselves and their family, to do what’s necessary as preventive measures.

“If we let loose and take it for granted, not only will the pandemic situation worsen, but the economy will be impacted, far worse than last year,” said Goh.

Recently, Goh and the event working committee members lead by organising chairwoman Lee Yen Ling, paid courtesy calls on Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism) Datuk Sebastian Ting and Pujut assemblyman Mayor Adam Yii to present them with invitation letters to the FCA dinner event. — DayakDaily
