MARUDI, Oct 24: Students of SMK Bakong in Marudi were shocked to see a team of Marudi traffic police at the school’s exit gate on Monday (Oct 23).
Fifteen of them were slapped with summonses for various traffic offences including not having a valid licence or road tax for their motor vehicles and not wearing safety helmets.
Marudi police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib said, a total 33 motorcycles were inspected during the two-hour operation dubbed Ops Didik/Ops Khas Traffik Marudi which started at 12.50pm.
“The exercise was carried out to create awareness among students of the importance of complying with all traffic regulations,” he said.
The police also advised parents to play their role and take responsibility to ensure the safety of the children who used motor vehicles to school.
Yesterday’s operation was led by Inspector G. Visvanathan. — DayakDaily
