SIBU, Feb 17:  A total of 1,493 pigs tested positive for Afrian Swine Flu (ASF) in Sibu have been culled.

Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi said in a statement today said the culling involved three pig farms where 1,400 pigs were from two commercial farms while another 93 were from a smallholder farm.

Following the culling, all contaminated items including animals feeds were buried and disinfection was performed on the premises.

Dr Rundi pointed out the three day culling operation started yesterday and will be completed tomorrow followed by decontamination activities.  — DayakDaily
