KUCHING, Dec 1: Kelab Golf Lun Tau (KGLT) managed to raise RM96,000 from its 16th Charity Tournament to empower schools, uplift disabled communities, and support low-income families.

In a statement today, KGLT said the event, which was officiated by Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, saw 148 seasoned pros and enthusiastic amateur golfers united by a common goal to make a positive impact.

Part of the proceeds from the charity event will be directed to the Miri branch of Persatuan Lun Bawang Sarawak.

These funds will be allocated to support primary school students in Limbang and Lawas and provide medical assistance to the underprivileged members of the Lun Tau community.

The funds will also be used to support the needs and development of Pertubuhan Orang Cacat Sarawak (Miri) and the Malaysian Evangelical Theological Seminary (METS).

During the closing ceremony, Dr Chan commended Kelab Golf Lun Tau for their vibrant display of community spirit in organising the charity tournament.

He said the charity event shows that when everyone unites as a group, no matter how small, nothing is impossible through the power of collective effort.

“I congratulate you for your colourful display of community spirit. As a Sarawakian, I’m very proud of the Lun Tau community. I hope to see more people inspired to contribute to the betterment of their communities,” he said.

Dr Chan also contributed RM10,000 to the charity event. — DayakDaily
