KUCHING, Jan 31: Nasarudin Latep of Nasha Prive emerged as the winner of Borneo Runway Project: Fashion Design Competition 2021 held at D’Arena Event Space, D-Virtual Park, Kota Samarahan, on Jan 26, 2022.

Meanwhile, Jefferyson Adam Henry Adam (Effie Jefferyson @ Indu Borneo) and Gilbert Francis Untam (Gilbert Headhunter) were announced first and second runner-ups, respectively.

The winners received cash prizes, exclusive gifts, and access to a professional mentorship programme from product sponsors.

Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd Kuching branch group manager Muliawadi Imran presented the cash prizes and gifts to the winners.

Consolation prizes went to John Flaner and Anabel Phoebe. In addition, all top five designers received an e-certificate of participation from the organising partners.

The programme, aimed at promoting digital technology and creative talent, was directed by Jamie Bush and joined by a panel of judges comprising industry experts Yacutha, Arabyrd, and Wellman Dennis.

It was a joint initiative by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Serba DigitalX, Jamie Bush Events and bookd! to implement technology in the fashion industry, boost fashion tourism, and promote Sarawak as a creative hub of Borneo to contribute to the economic growth in the region.

Two gruelling months were filled up with a flurry of activities, beginning with a marketing campaign in December 2021, which created awareness and momentum in the region, followed by the qualifying round on January 15, 2022, to select the top five finalists.

Borneo Runway Project intended to organise two fashion design competitions and three fashion shows per year in Borneo, with the format for subsequent series to be revised based on the progress and participation within the local fashion scene.

The supporting partners of the programme are StartUp Borneo, Kampung Heritage, and ApertureKch.
