14 issued with traffic summons during Ops Bersepadu in Sibu

SIBU, Sept 13: Some 14 individuals were issued with traffic summons during Ops Bersepadu here on Saturday night.

Another eight persons including two women were also arrested under the Dangerous Drugs Act during the integrated inspections done on 169 men, 64 women, 26 vehicles and 26 premises.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the operation around the town from 8 pm to 12 midnight yesterday involved personnel and officers from the police, various government agencies and community policing programme.


“The operation was conducted as a crime prevention measure and RMCO (Recovery Movement Control Order) monitoring as Sibu has been chosen as the host for this year’s Malaysia Day celebration where we want the town to be safe for visitors,” he said.

The monitoring activity was conducted around the areas of the central police station, Sungai Merah police station and Sibujaya police station.

It covered entertainment centres, restaurants and most frequented public places.

The celebration proper will take place at Sibu Indoor Stadium at 8 pm on Wednesday (Sept 16).-DayakDaily
