MIRI, April 13: The charred body of a 12-year-old boy was found inside a house completely destroyed by fire in Kampung Masjid near Kuala Baram here yesterday (April 12).
According to a spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, a man was also taken to a hospital with burns on the back of his body.
Firefighters from Lopeng Station and Miri were despatched to the scene after being alerted about the fire at 4.59pm yesterday.
“The fire completely razed the house.
“The operation commander reported that there was one victim aged 50 with 30 per cent burns on the back of his body, while a 12-year-old boy died,” the statement said.
The Bomba teams managed to put out the fire at 6.21pm.
“The distance between the house and the nearest Bomba station is about 35 kilometres,” the spokesperson added.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
