SIBU, June 26: The “engine room” of the vaccination centre (PPV) at Sibu Indoor Stadium is operating 24 hours, seven days a week to expedite Covid-19 vaccination process in Sibu.
Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee highlighted that staff in the engine room are working round the clock to compile data on the number of people who had received vaccines and those who had rejected.
“The PPV at Sibu Indoor Stadium is targeting to administer 2,500 doses today. It is manned by 300 people comprising of staff from the Health Ministry, frontliners and volunteers,” he shared during his Facebook live session held at the Sibu Islamic Welfare Trust Board (Lakis) hall today.
The Nangka assemblyman pointed out that a total of 123,113 out of 230,000 people in Sibu Division have so far been inoculated with 92,860 received the first dose and 30,253 completed the second dose.
“The highest dose administered on a single day was on June 23 with 7,008 doses which was over our target of 4,776.
“We have surpassed our daily target of 4,776 doses since June 20. Based on this, we hope the momentum can continue as we want to roll out as many doses as possible,” he said.
Dr Annuar thus advised those who have yet to be vaccinated to continue adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP) and take all necessary precautionary measures to prevent from getting infected.
“We will try to speed up in rolling out vaccines for those eligible either through appointments given under MySejahtera app or mobile PPVs,” he added.— DayakDaily
