KUCHING Aug 12: About 1,200 participants from various martial arts contingents joined the Kuching Festival Martial Arts Display.
According to Kuching City South Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, such a display serves as a reminder that martial arts is not just about physical skills, but it could also nurture mental fortitude and camaraderie.
He added that it further reflects the city’s commitment to promoting diverse cultures, unity, and a healthy lifestyle.
“I appreciate the dedicated practitioners, instructors, and organisers who have worked tirelessly to bring this extraordinary showcase to life.
“Your passion and dedication shine through each performance, inspiring us all to strive for excellence in our pursuits,” he said at the launching of the event held at Stadium Hoki Negeri at Jalan Padungan tonight.
Wee also encouraged public members to immerse themselves in the beauty and grace of any martial arts.
“Let this martial arts display be a source of inspiration — a reminder that we achieve greater heights through dedication and hard work,” he said.
The participants come from various martial arts practices, including Taiji Kungfu, Wushu, Judo, Taekwondo, Judo, Silat, Iban Kuntau, Silambam, Muay Thai, and boxing.
