12 Covid-19 deaths including 5 BID cases in Sarawak from Oct 3 to Nov 9

KUCHING, Nov 10: Sarawak has confirmed 12 Covid-19 related deaths including five brought-in-dead (BID) cases between Oct 3 and Nov 9.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, stated that of the five BID cases, two were reported in Betong on Oct 3 and 13, one case in Limbang and Sibu respectively on Oct 4 and one case in Kuching on Nov 8.

For the Betong cases, the victims were a 90-year-old woman with hypertension and a 75-year-old man with multiple morbidities of hypertension, diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Their bodies were transferred to Saratok Hospital.


For the case in Limbang, the deceased was a 90-year-old woman who required assistance in daily life. Her body was transported to Lawas Hospital.

In Sibu, the 75-year-old woman with hypertension, diabetes and chronic kidney disease was transferred to Sibu Hospital.

For the case in Kuching, the body of the 85-year-old woman with hypertension and diabetes was transferred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

For the remaining cases, Bau Hospital reported one fatality involving an 84-year-old man from Kuching.

On Nov 8, three more fatalities were recorded with one in Sibu Hospital involving a 75-year-old woman, in SGH involving a 57-year-old man from Betong, and in Miri Hospital involving a 48-year-old man.

Another three deaths were reported on Nov 9 with one case in SGH involving a 73-year-old woman, in Miri Hospital involving a 68-year-old man and in Sibu Hospital involving a 63-year-old man.

Most of the victims had multiple morbidities especially hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia, apart from more severe diseases like obstructive chronic lung disease and cancer.

This thus takes the death toll in Sarawak to 1,477 as of Nov 10. — DayakDaily
