12 containers of modular steel bridges delivered to Sarawak to restore damaged roads during monsoon

MIRI, Jan 8: Twelve containers carrying modular steel bridges, or Bailey Bridges, were successfully delivered to Sarawak as part of preparations for the second wave of the Northeast Monsoon.

The delivery, coordinated by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), aims to enhance disaster logistics readiness, especially to ensure quick restoration of damaged road networks in Sabah and Sarawak.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the flag-off ceremony took place at the Miri Port Authority on Monday (Jan 6) with Miri Division Resident Galong Luang officiating the event.

Over 40 representatives from various agencies and stakeholders were in attendance.

The containers were dispatched in two sessions with the first six units at 9am and the remaining six at 2pm, escorted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Miri for safety.

The first shipment arrived at the Public Works Department (JKR) Miri at 10.33am, and the second at 4pm, where both were welcomed by Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (JPBB) representative Nora Shafia Muhiyuddin.
