KUCHING, Oct 27: City police have arrested 12 suspects for allegedly being involved in gambling activities in a condominium unit turned ‘casino’ last night..

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Dennis Leong said the raid was carried out at 10.30pm at Jalan Maong Utama.

“The gambling activities are believed to have been in operation for almost two months in the condominium unit equipped with a strict security control system. During the raid, police discovered three rooms in the unit, two for Poker tables while the other one with Mahjong table.

“No cash was found during the raid. Winners will receive their winning monies credited into their account,” Leong disclosed in a statement.

Among the items confiscated by police were 409 gambling chips, 104 pieces of playing cards, 288 pieces of Mahjong tiles, two Poker tables, one Mahjong table, 12 chairs and access cards to the condominium unit.

All the suspects, Malaysians aged between 17 and 32 were detained for further investigation under Section 6 (1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. —DayakDaily
