KUCHING, Aug 1: Some 12 army reserve personnel (askar wataniah) tested positive for Covid-19, which led to the formation of a new cluster dubbed the 511 Sentosa Cluster here.
According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the 511 Sentosa Cluster is a workplace cluster centred on a dormitory at an army camp in Kota Sentosa.
So far, 100 individuals have been swabbed, with 12 testing positive while the balance tested negative.
The cluster is one of the two new clusters announced in Sarawak today.
The second new cluster is the Kandis Pantu Cluster in Sri Aman, involving six individuals who tested positive after nine people were swabbed. The cluster centres on two longhouses in Kandis, Lachau and Rapak Panyau in Pantu, Sri Aman.
The balance of three people who were swabbed are awaiting Covid-19 swab test results.
SDMC said the Covid-19 patients for these two new clusters have been admitted to health facilities for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Sungai Sebetan Cluster in Saratok was declared ended.
There are presently 85 active clusters remaining in Sarawak, from which 10 active clusters reported 77 new cases today. — DayakDaily
