Day 20 of Kuching reporting triple-digit cases, zero Covid-19 deaths

KUCHING, Aug 1: No Covid-19 fatality was reported in Sarawak today but Kuching is still registering triple-digit daily infections for the 20th consecutive day.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said Kuching contributed 317 cases or 54.84 per cent of the 578 total new cases in the State.


It also remains the district with highest number of new daily cases for 19 consecutive times since July 14.

On the breakdown of the cases, Kuching reported 317, followed by Serian (65), Sibu (29), Samarahan (23), Bau (20), Miri (16), Lundu (16), Bintulu (15), Mukah (15), Simunjan (13), Kabong (11), Dalat (7), Sri Aman (6), Selangau (6), Meradong (4), Betong (3), Kanowit (2), Tatau (2), Tebedu (2), Sarikei (1), Pusa (1) and Beluru (1).

SDMC also reported that of the total cases, 440 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 64 individuals linked to active clusters, 40 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals and 28 from other screenings in health facilities.

Six other cases were classified as Import B involving individuals returning from Kuala Lumpur (4) and Perak (2).

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 149 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 70,721 or 91.48 per cent.

There are 5,947 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State. — DayakDaily
