11,308 celebrate Hari Raya with Sarawak Premier on second day of open house at BCCK

KUCHING, April 1: A total of 11,308 guests attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang on the second day of celebrations at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today, reflecting the rich culture of togetherness and festive joy.

People from all walks of life, including dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the public, gathered at the grand event, reinforcing the Sarawakian tradition of open-house and hospitality during Hari Raya.

The gathering served as a meaningful occasion for fostering unity and strengthening social ties across communities.

Guests were treated to an array of traditional Malay delicacies, including lemang, rendang, ketupat, and Sarawak’s signature layered cake and mee kolok, symbolising the generosity and unity that define the festive season.

The atmosphere was further enlivened with warm exchanges as visitors personally conveyed their Hari Raya greetings to the Premier and his wife.

The event also saw the attendance of Minister of National Unity Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Minister of Utility and Infrastructure Dato Sri Julaihi Narawai, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala—who was accompanied by a Penan delegation from Ulu Baram—and Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang.
