1,124 villagers in Baleh longhouses under lockdown receive food aid

KUCHING, Feb 25: A total of 106 doors in five Baleh longhouses with 1,124 residents under Covid-19 lockdown have each received food packages worth RM200 yesterday (Feb 24).

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) have been distributing these food aids to the longhouses under lockdown since January, 2021.

“Due to lockdown, PRS/GPS in Kapit are busy delivering food packages to five longhouses in Baleh now.

“In the meantime, opposition parties such as PSB (Parti Sarawak Bersatu), PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) and DAP (Democratic Action Party) are nowhere to be found,” he said in a statement yesterday (Feb 24).

The five longhouses presented with the food packages were Rh Inguh, Rh Mansai, Rh Ajai, Rh Robin Ungkong and Rh Anchi, where each door were entitled to two food packages.

In one food package valued at RM100, there are two packets of 10kg rice, cooking oil, seasonings like monosodium glutamate (MSG) and salt, Maggi brand noodles, crackers, canned sardine and other dried foods.

Previously on Feb 5, four longhouses at Rh Jamit, Rh Bajang, Rh Kiruh and Rh Bangkong were the beneficiaries and earlier on Jan 15, the distribution was at Rh Sana Mangom, Rh Bansa Langgu, Rh Ifu Tanjong, Rh Sebuang Mambang, Rh Saging Nyawai, Rh James Bandak and Sk Nanga Sempili.

The food packages were contributed by Masing and Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.—DayakDaily
