11-year-old drowning victim found since going missing July 20

DARO, July 22: The remains of an 11-year-old boy feared drowned at Kampung Hilir in Kuala Matu on Monday were found at 4.30pm today.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement said Mohamad Amirul Dedy Susanto was found by search and rescue (SAR) team at about 3.5km where he fell and was last seen.

On July 20, it was reported that Mohamad Amirul had gone fishing with a friend.


Both of them were fishing from a tugboat berthed at the riverbank when Mohamad Amirul slipped and fell into the river. His friend informed villagers of the incident.

Bomba received the emergency call at 4.52pm.

A search and rescue operation was immediately launched by firefighters from Daro station.

Rescue divers also conducted surface water rescue techniques, searching from the upper river area up to 1km from where Mohamad Amirul fell.—DayakDaily
