11 joggers among 29 compounded for MCO violations in Sibu

SIBU, June 16: A group of 11 joggers were among 29 people compounded RM2,000 for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) here yesterday.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 11 joggers, including three women were caught doing the activity at 5.40pm at Bukit Lima Forest Park.

Outdoor activities are not allowed under this MCO.

Stanley said seven persons were also caught travelling in two different cars at separate locations and time.

“Three men were travelling along Jalan Oya at 9.30am when they were stopped for checking by the police SOP Monitoring team,” he said.

The other group involved four members of a family who were caught in a car at 11.04am at Jalan Wawasan.

“They have violated the MCO which allowed only two persons in one car at a time,” said  Stanley.

At about 6.40pm, another SOP Monitoring team issued compounds to a group of nine men and a woman for loitering at a place in Jalan Lau King Howe here.

An owner of an eatery outlet in Jalan Sungai Antu was caught at about 12.17pm for eating.

The compounds were issued under  Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Infected Areas) Regulations 2021. — DayakDaily
