MIRI, Dec 7 : A crocodile weighing approximately 100kg was rescued after it was hooked on a fishing line inside a drain in Kampung Muhibbah, Kuala Baram some 24km from the Miri City centre, on Wednesday night (Dec 6).
The reptile, estimated to be around 11 feet long, was first spotted by one of the villagers around 8.39pm, struggling to free itself from the fishing line.
A team of five Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel was mobilised to the scene upon receiving a distress call about the discovery.
Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered that the crocodile had eaten the bait on the fishing hook which was set inside the drain by Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC).
It took APM nearly 30 minutes to secure the area.
The crocodile was then handed over to Miri Crocodile Farm in Kuala Baram. — DayakDaily
