KUCHING, Dec 26: A total of 100 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Batu Lintang and SK Siol Kanan are set to receive monthly food boxes worth RM200 each under the DRB-HICOM Berhad (DRB-HICOM) Charity Right Feed-To-Educate Programme.
The initiative will provide these essential groceries and household items to families for one year, aiming to alleviate financial burdens and promote a supportive educational environment.
According to a press release, the programme, launched on Nov 15 at SK Siol Kanan, is part of DRB-HICOM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to ensure holistic support for students’ education.
Chief Communication Officer of DRB-HICOM, Cairil Irwan Amir, explained that the initiative not only addresses nutritional needs but also encourages better school attendance and academic progress.
In partnership with Charity Right, a food aid non-governmental organisation (NGO) under Mercy Mission Malaysia, the programme allowed participating parents access to training sessions and motivational talks aimed at personal and professional development.
Parents or guardians of participating students were required to attend regular meetings with schools to foster engagement and commitment.
In addition to food aid, the programme incorporates educational support from DRB-HICOM’s subsidiaries. Bank Muamalat contributed through financial literacy and scam awareness talks, while PROTON showcased advancements in technology to inspire students in their educational pursuits.
