10 remanded one day over car smashing incident at Hui Sing

KUCHING, March 17: Ten men were arrested in relation to an incident involving a car that was smashed by a group of men at Hui Sing yesterday.

The ten suspects aged between 16 and 41 were brought before the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand application.


Magistrate Zaiton Anuar allowed police to remand all 10 suspects for one day and to be produced in the Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, March 18.

All ten suspects were represented by counsel Lim Lian Kee. Lim today in his submissions said that the government had issued an order to suspend any gathering involving more than 50 people, and the lockup may contain more than 50 people.

Therefore, he urged the Magistrate to grant the shortest remand period for his clients.

The incident happened around 2pm. The complainant’s car was parked at a petrol station near Hui Sing.

According to the police report, the complainant and the suspects were discussing compensation of RM12,400 which was owed by the complainant to one of the suspects.

One of the suspects was not satisfied with their discussions and he and other suspects took out “guang tao” to smash a car belonging to the complainant’s nephew.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
