KUCHING, April 1: The inaugural CATS FM Xposed Awards Vol 1 this weekend will showcase the best of local Sarawak musical talents on par with their counterparts from West Malaysia.
CATS FM Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Iskandar Mohamad Nawawi said through CATS FM Xposed initiatives over the years, it is now the time to go to the next level in acknowledging local Sarawak musical talents by having Sarawak’s own musical awards show.
He said CATS FM Xposed has been gaining much support from the public especially the listeners of CATS FM, and it is now proper for the state’s radio station to have an award show to reward and acknowledge the local artists who had contributed not just to the station but also to Sarawak’s music scene today.
“The CATS FM Xposed Awards Vol 1 2019 will be held this coming Saturday on April 6, 2019 at 7pm at Borneo 744, Pending.
“The awards show can also be viewed streaming online on the CATS FM Facebook page at www.facebook.com/catsfm/ or TV Sarawak at http://tvsarawak.com,” Iskandar announced during a press conference this afternoon.
There would be seven awards for two categories to be given away that night.
Iskandar said the seven awards would be in aspects of music, production, performance and presentation to name a few, and to be judged by a panel of three juries comprising professionals from the music and entertainment industry.
The two categories would be the Ethnic Division and the Malay/English Division. He also revealed 10 finalists who had made it to the award show. They are:

Sulaiman Usop – Tentang Dia
Lasykar Seni – Sayang
Edan Kesmara – Kau Hadir
Ethnic Division:
NK Yongai – Malam Tu Empu Tua
Sam Anthony – Simpang Tua Bebagi
Four4th Ace – Peraja Mata
Postcode 97K – Pengerindu Tengah Cherita
Austin Santinez – Ensera Ba Dada
