KUCHING, April 12: One person has been killed while 10 others were injured in a road accident which occurred near the Sungai Alit along Jalan Bintulu-Sibu.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre today, they received a call regarding the incident at 2.25pm and deployed personnel from Bomba Selangau to the location.
The operation commander reported that the incident involved two vehicles, a Perodua Axia and Alza.
“Seven of the victims were helped out of their vehicle by members of the public.
“The victim, identified as Chieg Jie Yie, was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH),” it said.
It added that three other victims, who weee pinned inside their vehicle, were later extricated by firefighters and was handed over to paramedics for further action. — DayakDaily
